Time study

How do I time a step?

Open the step and choose Measure with stopwatch: Start, Stop, Record. The reading goes into the step's time in seconds, to two decimals. The standalone Stopwatch in Tools also records laps and an average cycle.

How are steps classified?

Each step is value-added, incidental or waste, and gets one of 7 characterizations such as stable, bottleneck, defect or standardization problem. Waste is analysed with the 7 Muda: transportation, inventory, motion, waiting, overprocessing, overproduction and defects.

How many steps can a process have?

Up to 200 steps per process.

Can I store several readings for one step?

Each step keeps one time before and one time after the improvement. Take as many readings as you need and enter the representative value.

Savings and projects

How is headcount saved calculated?

Takt is available time divided by demand. Staff needed is cycle time divided by takt. Headcount saved is staff before minus staff after, and it counts once the process is complete.

How is the money calculated?

Headcount saved times the yearly cost per person, plus the yearly waste cost times the share of waste time removed. It shows as potential until the process is complete. Cost per person and currency are set for the company and can be changed per process.

What does the scorecard show?

Before and after side by side, plus a waterfall that splits the change into waste, incidental work, value-added work and other.

Where do improvement projects come from?

Every step you keep that is not stable becomes a project automatically, with a status, a 0 to 100% progress bar and notes.

Which problem-solving methods are included?

24: 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto, 5W2H, Is/Is-Not, FTA, CAPA, A3, 8D, PDCA, PDSA, DMAIC, SPC, FMEA, HACCP, HAZOP, Bowtie, Risk Ranking, Kanban, VSM, SIPOC, Poka-Yoke, Kaizen and Standard Work. Each is a guided form you save as Draft or Complete, and you can build your own.

How does the Method Advisor choose?

You describe the problem or pick a goal, and it suggests the best fit by keyword and goal matching. It works offline and uses no AI.

Can a root cause link back to a step?

Yes. Find root cause on a step opens the Solutions Center already filled in and links the result back to that step.

What is People Performance?

It ranks process owners on 9 plain metrics, such as headcount saved and processes completed. There is deliberately no combined score.

Plans, devices and data

Is it for one person or a team?

Each account belongs to one person. To show results to others, send a read-only share link: 30 days by default, up to 90, with the owner's name removed.

What happens after the trial?

Dashboard, Processes, Analytics and Solutions lock until you subscribe. Learn, Tools and your data export stay open.

Can I export my data?

Yes, everything as one JSON file. Analytics and Tools print from the browser. There is no Excel or PDF export and no import yet.

Which devices and languages?

The web at lean.strasysglobal.com, Android from Google Play and Windows from the Microsoft Store; iPhone is coming soon. English and Turkish. Sign in with Google, Microsoft or Apple.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

Your processes, share links and backups are deleted with it. Consent and subscription records are kept.
